Outpatient cover

1. Use the PayLess option

With the PayLess option, you no longer need to pay your full medical bill upfront. Simply present your physical or electronic membership card at any participating partner, and your bill will be processed. You will only need to pay the excess amount not covered by your plan, if applicable.

2. Submit your claim on the health portal

Log in to the Medscheme portal using the credentials provided at the time of your insurance registration to submit your claims.

3. Submit your claim via the Medscheme App

Use the Snap & Send feature on the Medscheme App to quickly submit your claim.

Inpatient planned treatment

1. Notify Medscheme

Notify Medscheme before your treatment by sending an email to [email protected] with your medical report, including details of your diagnosis and planned treatment along with a cost estimate.

2. Verification & Confirmation

  • The Medscheme team will review your request and confirm whether the treatment and surgery costs are covered under your plan.
  • You will receive a response within two working days.

3. Proceed with your treatment

Once you receive confirmation from Medscheme, you can proceed with booking your surgery or treatment.

Catastrophe and Emergency Care

1. In case of an emergency

In case of an emergency, present your health insurance card at the medical facility.

2. Medical center will contact Medscheme

The clinic or medical center will contact Medscheme to notify them of the event and proceed with treatment accordingly.

Overseas Treatment

If treatment is not available in Mauritius, we offer the flexibility to seek care at other centers of excellence abroad, namely Réunion Island, South Africa, or India.

 

The insured person or insured dependent must contact our administrator, Medscheme by sending an email to [email protected] at least 7 working days before travelling, providing the treatment details and relevant documents. You will then be guided on the next steps.

 

We recommend that anyone travelling abroad should take a Travel Insurance Cover to be prepared for unexpected emergencies.
